    • Important two-letter word, Volunteer of the Week + Easter Update

Posted at 3:04 pm by Stephanie McDonald
      Mar 19th

      Bonnie Terry

Let’s Celebrate!  Meet of our Volunteer of the Week…Bonnie Terry!

Bonnie is a Garden Team Leader in Twos A room every other Saturday at 5:45pm.  She has been serving since April 2014. Although Bonnie is scheduled to serve every other week, she is always popping in to offer up help weekly and at multiple services!  Bonnie does an incredible job connecting with team members, families, and children.  Bonnie instantly brings up the energy in the room the minute she walks in.  Her smile and energy are contagious!  She is a great example of a dedicated leader.  Thank you Bonnie, the best is yet to come!

Our 10 Easter services kick-off in 14 days…hip, hip, hooray!

Last year we had over 16,000 people come through our doors for an Easter service.  WOWSER!!!!!!
We are expecting that number to grow this year.

Please review and double check our online scheduler for your serve dates and times.  If you need to request a sub, please do so as soon as possible.   If you do not have any services, please go ahead and plug yourself in to the schedule. We need YOU!

      EASTER SERVICE TIMES:
      Thurs. April 2nd      7:00pm
      Friday April 3rd       5:00pm & 7:00pm
      Saturday April 4th  1:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm & 7:00pm
      Sunday April 5th     8:30am, 10:30am & 12:30pm

There’s a small word that has a BIG impact when you use it while serving…the word “we”.  You will find people will connect with you better when you intentionally use the word “we”.  The word “we” is very small and dynamic.  When “we” are working together to serve families and God’s little ones everyone comes together.  There is no letter ‘I’ in the word team.  We = team .

Here we GROW!  THANK YOU for being a part of what God is doing at Parkview.  You are more than you know!

      BIG hugs and much love,

      Jill Shea

      encouragement

I am so grateful for everyone on our team making a difference in our Children’s Ministry.  THANK YOU for making a difference in the world!

This is a good week for us all to remember the power of our words.  Please continue to speak words of encouragement to the children, parents and fellow team members.  Encouragement is oxygen for the soul!

Let’s Celebrate!  Meet Volunteer of the Week…Gabrielle Robinson!

      Gabrielle Robinson

Gabrielle started serving in the Early Childhood Backyard over a year ago. She loved it so much she decided to continue serving every week at the 9:00am service in Clubhouse B.  Gabrielle is very reliable, a self-starter, kind, patient and does a phenomenal job leading activities and working with the team. Thank you, Gabrielle, the best is yet to come!”

Friendly reminder, you can always find the fun-filled activities and worship music that Lisa Dorman puts together on our blog under the curriculum category.

Final thought for this week… when you take a child by the hand, you take a parent by the heart.  Reach a child and you will reach their parents.

It takes over 175 team members every weekend for all of our Early Childhood rooms to be open for the Parkview families.  We can’t do this without YOU.  THANK YOU again for sharing your time, talent and energy!

      BIG hugs and much love,

      Jill Shea

    • Door greeters, welcoming environment & Volunteer of the Week!

Posted at 4:03 pm by Stephanie McDonald
      Mar 5th

      Alicia Hernandez

Let’s Celebrate!  Meet our Volunteer of the Week, Alicia Hernandez!  Alicia is a Team Leader in the Garden’s Two year old room every Sunday at 9:00 am.  She has been serving since July 2012. Alicia is a team player and goes above and beyond every single week. Alicia is dedicated to serving and connecting with those she is serving and serving with! She leads the room with ease and is always willing to help in any way she can.  Thank you Alicia, the best is yet to come!

Let’s Connect!  Can you remember how it felt the last time you met a roomful of people for the first time?  Recalling those feelings will  help you know how stressful the first day of class can be for a young child (and their parent).  There are, however, some ways to help our Parkview families feel welcomed and know “This is a good place to be!”

Let’s Contribute to a welcoming environment!  We must always make sure we have an adult team member at the door to greet our parents and children.  We will never get a second chance to make a first impression.  Your friendly, warm and welcoming smile makes a HUGE difference.

Attitude.  Our Parkview families like to see people who are positive, upbeat, confident, cheerful, friendly and willing to help.  We need to leave our personal problems at home and give children our undivided attention.  Let’s continue to establish an atmosphere of TRUST and LOVE that makes the parents and children want to return.

We had 25 NEW FAMILIES last weekend, praise God!!!!

THANK YOU for your dedication to God’s little ones and being the best that you can be.  I look forward to seeing you this weekend!

    • Consolidation Update, Volunteer of the Week and MORE! …

Posted at 10:26 am by Stephanie McDonald
      Feb 26th

Now and Later from Dale Hudson on Vimeo.

We are THRILLED to see how God is moving in Parkview’s Children’s Ministry!  This is the first week we get to consolidate our two teams the Garden (Nursery) and Backyard (Preschool/Kindergarten).  Welcome everyone!

Lisa Dorman and myself started working in the nursery years ago and we are super excited about now being one team and unified!

“The first five years of a child’s life are the most formative.  Much of what a person becomes is developed during this time with the first three years being the most critical.  The above one minute video is a great reminder  that when you minister to children you will see fruit NOW in their lives and LATER when they are adults.

Researchers said though personality plays a big role in how kids turn out as adults…they also documented that life events are also a major determining factor.

As a children’s ministry team member, we have the unique privilege of influencing children at the most important time in their life.  What you teach them will not only make a difference in their lives now, but will stay with them for the rest of their lives.  You are helping shape their future!”

Let’s CONNECT!  We have a private Facebook group for our team which is a fantastic way for us to get to know one another better.  Our Parkview EC Facebook group is a for volunteers on the Early Childhood Team at Parkview (birth through Kindergarten).  The ‘EC’ Team ROCKS!  This is a safe place to share, grow in our faith, encourage, laugh and build relationships. Let’s grow and prosper according to God’s word.  Friend me up at http://facebook.com/jillashea and include a note that you are on our team so I can add you to our private FB group.

As we get to know one another better, let’s ENCOURAGE each other and CELEBRATE what each of you are doing for His kingdom.  Every week we put the spotlight on one of our AWESOME team members.  We will now rotate every week between the Backyard and Garden team members.

Let’s CELEBRATE!  Meet this week’s Volunteer of the Week…Kevin Fox!

      Kevin Fox

Kevin joined our team almost two years ago and serves faithfully every Sunday in the Backyard at 11:00am and recently added a second service and now also serves at 9:00am.   He is reliable, helpful and willing to go above and beyond.  He started out serving in the four year old room and now serves outside the classroom assisting our coaches and coordinators by making sure all six of our Backyard classrooms are equipped and organized with their supplies.  He will assist our coaches and coordinators with any requests.  He is kind, patient and willing to do whatever it takes to help.  We are so grateful to have him on our team.  Thanks Kevin, the best is yet to come!

Our team blog ( http://www.parkviewEC.wordpress.com ) is our home base and a place where you will find everything for Early Childhood.  Feel free to browse around!  Lisa Dorman is very organized.  She creates and puts all the children’s activities and worship music in our curriculum category .  It’s available 24/7.  Thanks Lisa!!!

If you have any questions please contact your department’s Coordinator.  All our contact information can be found by clicking on this link  https://parkviewec.wordpress.com/about/ .

We are THRILLED to be a part of what God is doing at Parkview and for the opportunity for us all to work together.  It is an honor and privilege to serve you.

      Here we GROW!

    • Reflections, 2 year anniversary & volunteer of the week!

      Feb 19th

Let’s celebrate!  Meet Volunteer of the Week…Meredith Brody!

Meredith BrodyMeredith is a Team Leader in Clubhouse B every Sunday at 11:00am.  She has been serving since August 2014.  Meredith is a team player and goes above and beyond by also helping with our large group activities.  Meredith always shows up ready to connect with the team and lead the children with a bright smile.  Her energy is contagious!  She is a great example of a dedicated leader.  Thank you Meredith, the best is yet to come!

It’s our two-year anniversary for our Sunday night 5:45 service!  We’ll be celebrating with a pizza party at 5:00pm for our Sunday night team.  We are also in need of two more adults for this Sunday night, February 22nd.  If you are available please let me know and come on in.  The more the merrier!

      Reflections, thought for this week…

“Dee-liberations from Delia” – Consider each child as a quilt.  The parts of a quilt are gathered from various places, some new and some old.  Each piece has its own characteristic.  And each piece goes into making the whole design of the quilt.  Many people and events make up the child you teach. Respect that heritage and let your time with the child become a part of the beautiful binding. (From Ready, Set, Teach! by Delia Halverson)

I look forward to seeing YOU soon!  THANK YOU for your dedication to leading God’s little ones.

“You are the light of the world.  A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16

Our Volunteer Gathering is NEXT WEEK,Wednesday, January 28th, 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Orland Campus.  Join us for a REFRESHING and ENCOURAGING evening of worship, COMMUNITY and to refocus on our mission to reach kids for Christ.  We need YOU!

We’ll start the evening in the Underground with appetizers and desserts followed by worship and a message from Pastor Casey.  The evening will close with team breakout sessions.  Don’t miss out on our New Year kick off event!  This night will give us the opportunity to celebrate, reflect and prepare for the new year.  We can’t do this without you!

Please RSVP by clicking on this link:  http://parkviewchurch.com/reloaded

Top 5 Things I need you to know this week:

      1.  If you serve Sunday mornings at 9:00am OR 11:00am PLEASE shuttle.  We ran out of parking at the 11am service last weekend.  I was told it looked like Christmas with people parked in the aisles and in the fire lane.  We hate to see people pull in and drive away because there is no parking. : (   Click here to read more details about how to shuttle from Hortons on Sunday mornings.  We need to open up parking spaces for new families and the shuttle is fun and easy!  Just do it.

      2.  Meet our Volunteer of the Week…Paula Schackle!  Paula Schackle

Paula faithfully serves every other Saturday at 5:45pm in our yellow room.  She’s been serving for over a year and we are THRILLED to have her on our team.  She’s always ready to greet the families and help the children transition into the classroom.  She is dependable, kind, patient, generous and a joy to know.  Thank you Paula.   The best is yet to come!

      3.  We are adding in a 5th service for Super Bowl  weekend after all but we’ll have it at 1:00 pm (Sunday, Feb. 1st) so that we can still all be off for the Super Bowl night.  If you regularly serve Sunday nights at 5:45pm you will automatically be moved to the 1:00pm service
Super Bowl Sunday.  Our administrator is in the process of updating our online scheduler.  If you are not available at that different time please request a sub as soon as possible. Thanks!

      4.  We are in need of 2 more adults for this Saturday at 3:45pm and Sunday night 5:45pm. Please let me know if you can play with us or better yet just add yourself in to our online scheduler. Thanks!

      5. Praise reports…New Guest information trickles in each week. These are so encouraging to read, YOU are making a difference. THANK YOU!!! ‪

Question: What was most memorable about your 1st or 2nd time at Parkview?   Answer: “How much fun my daughter had. she is 3 years old and had never been away from me unless it was with family. she now looks forward to going every Sunday! win my daughter over = win her parents over!”

On another note, Katie volunteers in our blue room and had this to say this week …
“I just want to say you guys rock! Thanks for all the help and support with trying to get Josh to adjust and stay in the early childhood classroom. He really looks forward to coming. I really enjoy seeing him learn and interact with the other kids. I miss that while I’m at work and he’s at daycare. We love coming to Parkview! So worth the drive! Have a good week and see you Saturday!
      Katie H.”

We had 25 NEW families last weekend! WOWSER!  This is double from where we were a year ago. PRAISE GOD and thank you for your dedication to God’s little ones!  You are more than you know, way to go TEAM!  I look forward to seeing YOU soon.

      Happy New Year!

THIS weekend we will  have our first-ever “Show Up for the Show”.  If you are serving with us this weekend feel free to wear your PJ’s as we have been encouraging our 3s, 4s and 5s to show off their favorite pajama’s with us this weekend.

TOP 3 things I need you to know this week:

      1.  On Super Bowl Sunday, February 1st, there will be no 5:45pm Sunday night service. Pastor Tim will encourage people to stay home and invite friends over for the game like he did last year.  We’ve already deleted this service time from our online scheduler.

      2.  We are back to our regular shuttle schedule and ONLY SHUTTLING ON Sunday mornings as usual between 7:30am-1:00pm.

      3.  We need everyone one ON MISSION…please click here  and review the 10 Things Kids Want When They Attend Church. We need to be prepared for our classrooms will soon be overflowing with kids.

Thank you for your dedication to God’s little ones.  This year let’s continue to ensure we do everything in our power to pass the baton of faith to the next generation.

I’m honored to be a part of your journey and pray the new year is filled with much blessing and you experience much love, joy and peace.  See YOU soon!

    • Busy? Be encouraged!

      Dec 12th

To say Christmas is busy is an understatement.  I realize you may be rushing around with last minute details for this month so here’s our TOP THREE things to know this week…

      1.  We are 8 days away from kicking off our TEN Parkview Christmas services at the Orland Campus!  If you are serving during Christmas please note there will be no huddles.  We need you to arrive 45 minutes before the Christmas services to sign in, find your room assignment and huddle with your team in the classroom.  We all need to be ready to go earlier than usual as we’ll be opening 30 minutes early for the children.  (Christmas services only)

      2. Meet last weekend’s Volunt20140614_161834_resizedeer of the week…Trisha Clyde!  Trisha joined our team in June and serves every week at 3:45pm and at other services when she is available.  She is dedicated, strong and is always willing to go with the flow.  She also assists with large group worship.  She has a huge heart for the children and we are so grateful to have her on our team.  Thank you Trisha, the best is yet to come!

Volunteer of the Week will be on hold until mid January.

      3. God is going to use you to do great things this Christmas season.  Please take 1 minute out of your day to watch this video and hear some encouragement from other children ministry friends.

THANK YOU for being a part of God’s exciting work at Parkview!

      BIG hugs and much love,

      Jill Shea
