Time to celebrate! Meet our Volunteer of the Week, Linda Moore. Linda has been serving in Early Childhood for almost a year. You’ll find her in the Green Room every other Saturday at 5:45pm as the Team Leader. She has a passion for the kids and people around her and it shows as she serves with her whole heart.  Thank you, Linda, the best is yet to come! #ParkviewVOW

WOWSER!  Next week we kick off our nine Easter services at the Orland campus, yahoo!!! Remember to invite friends and family to Parkview services, it will be AMAZING!

With nine services and close to 250 team members in our Early Childhood Ministry, it will be extremely important we all know
when and where we are scheduled for Easter. I am so encouraged and AMAZED to see how God has put everything into place for next week. Thank you for your faithfulness to serve, you ROCK!!!

      IMPORTANT EASTER UPDATES:

      • We will open earlier NEXT WEEK during Easter so we will not huddle in the green room. Please go directly to your designated room 45 minutes before the service to meet and greet your team and review the super fun activities Lisa will have posted on the cabinets.  Thank you!!!
      • There will be no large group teach outside the classrooms during the Easter services next week.  Lisa will have everything set up individually in each room for you.
      • Expect lots of new families and there may be new Easter helpers serving with you. Please make sure the person on your team who is at the door knows to check the sticker to make sure the child is entering the correct room. We’ll also have lots of new friends helping during Easter services. Please help me welcome them and make them feel comfortable.

We always encourage you to review the activities Lisa has prepared ahead of time. Simply go to our team website https://parkviewec.wordpress.com and click on curriculum tab on the right.

      ***OPENINGS***

We need three more people to play with us tomorrow, Saturday, March 24th at the 3:45 service. Contact me or just come on in tomorrow if you are available. Our Saturday team would GREATLY appreciate it!!!

If you are not already scheduled or open to serving more than one service, during Easter we need four more people for the Easter Sunday, March 31, 1:00pm service and then two more people for Friday, March 29th at 5pm. You can go directly to our online scheduler to plug yourself in click here. Thanks SO much!

Please keep loving, listening and encouranging the children and showing them how to follow after Jesus!

With much love and great appreciation,
      Jill

Let’s Celebrate!!! Meet our Volunteer of the Week, Lynn McWhinnie.  Lynn is a Team Leader and has been serving for almost 10 years. She is always smiling and ready to jump in and help whenever needed.  The children have so much fun with Lynn and we love seeing her every Saturday with her bright smile and positive energy.  Lynn is a great example of a dedicated leader!  Thank you, Lynn the best is yet to come!

If you are on Facebook, we have a private Facebook group for our Early Childhood Ministry.  This is another place for us to share, encourage each other and have community.  AJ brought up a good point last week.  When you serve, if something happens that you know would help others please feel free to post and share that information with our team in the Facebook group.  Let’s use our online communities, this blog and Facebook, to share, minister to each other and be the best we can be so that overflows into the children.

Here is the link to our Facebook group.  If you are not a member just let me know and I’ll add you. https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/410292205668409/

Easter is fast approaching!  If you are not scheduled to serve during any of our 9 Easter services please use our online scheduler and plug yourself in, we still have LOTS of openings.  Lisa is planning tons of fun activities as usual.  It will be a blast!!!!

If you have the gift of hospitality, event planning, organization please contact me.  I’m planning a summer celebration for our team in June.  It will be the perfect time for us to celebrate the end of the school year and get our families together.  Please contact me if you are interested in being a part of the event planning for our team. Thanks!

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to His little ones!

    • Storytelling + Volunteer of the Week

Posted at 1:47 pm by Stephanie McDonald
      Mar 1st

I know I sound like a broken record but…we did it again!  We had another record-breaking attendance last weekend. There were 1,046 children in our Kidz Connection last weekend and of that 388 of the children were in our Early Childhood classrooms.  Plus the new Sunday night 5:45pm service has become one of our second busiest services.  Thank you SO much for your dedication and commitment to His little ones!

It takes a over 100 of our team members EVERY WEEKEND to have all our of Early Childhood rooms open for the Parkview families.  It is so exciting to see what God continues to do at Parkview!

photo (22)Please help me celebrate Volunteer of the Week…Cassidy Cozen!  You can meet and learn more about Cassidy here…https://parkviewec.wordpress.com/meet-the-ec-team-volunteers-of-the-week/

This weekend Lisa provided in the curriculum a fun book to read so let’s look at some tips to remember or try…..

Children love story time, it’s a great closing activiy!  Great storytelling skills are not necessary, just enthusiasm!

      • Use the defined carpet area for children to sit. Children like to know where their physical boundaries are.
      • Discuss the cover with the children. What can we see? What might the book be about? Who is the author and illustrator? The length of this discussion will depend on the age of the children and discussion skills.
      • Use a loud clear voice and adopt different voices and tones to portray different characters and feelings.
      • Pause throughout the story to add a comment or allow children to comment and predict. Keep it simple to start with such as “Oh I can see Tom feels really sad, see his sad face”, add more complex questions if children can cope with discussion during the story, “What do you think made him feel sad”.
      • After the story allow children to comment on what they liked, what happened, to make alternate endings and to recall the story progression. The possibilities are endless.  Most of all have FUN!

What storytelling tips do YOU have?  Feel free to leave a comment on our blog and share with our Early Childhood community, we’d LOVE to hear from you!!!  Scroll back up to the top of this article and click on the ‘leave a comment’ link. : )

    • The Role You Play + Volunteer of The Week

Posted at 5:01 pm by Stephanie McDonald
      Feb 21st

We did it again, we hit a record-number!   There were 1,006 precious children visiting Kidz Connection last weekend and of that 385 of those little ones were in our Early Childhood rooms.  God is moving powerfully!!!

Thank you for being a valuable part of our team as we work together to care for the children and unfold Bible stories and truths.

Boeing CEO, Alan Mulally says, “Many of the strongest emotions we feel are influenced by the degree to which we feel connected to others. People seem to need frequent positive interactions with the same individual and they need these interactions to occur in a framework of long-term, stable caring and concern.”

The role you play in the Early Childhood ministry is crucial; your consistent presence and influence in the lives of the children is not only helping them connect with you, it’s also helping them connect with God. In a fast-paced world filled with constant change, you provide consistency and stability to our children—in some cases, you may be the only consistent connection they have with someone. Thank you for your commitment to providing care, concern, and stability to our little ones here at Parkview Christian Church. Your dedication and influence is making a difference!

WOW, WOW, WOW!  What a phenomenal weekend we had!!!
Last weekend our orientations for all our new “just try it’ friends was hugely successful.  We then had 34 new people try out serving in Early Childhood and we’ll have at least another 24 coming in this weekend.
Plus the new 5th service was packed and we had all our rooms open and running smoothely.  All while Kidz Connection had one of the busiest weekends yet, 983 children of which 375 were in our Early Childhood rooms.  God is GREAT!!!!  You are the best team ever!
As we grow and train our new team members we are need of a few more seasoned team members to help this Saturday at the 3:45pm and Sunday night at 5:45pm.  Please contact me if you can play with us, thanks!
Never forget the difference you make every time you choose to give.  Check out this thank you note from a parent last week…https://parkviewec.wordpress.com/2013/02/11/why-we-do-what-we-do-a-thank-you-note-from-mom/
Thanks and Happy Valentine’s Day, YOU are loved!

THIS JUST IN!!!  Here’s an email from a parent to our Children’s Ministry Director, Laurie Kamp, that I had to share….Way to go Early Childhood Team!!!  YOU are making a difference!!!!

“I wanted to drop you a note and thank you for your warm welcome during last Saturday’s service. My three year old son attended Kidz Connection for the first time and you were gracious enough to walk us through the process, all the way to the Blue Room. It was a courageous event for both my son and I as he hasn’t attended pre-school yet. The classroom volunteers were kind and inviting and he made it through the service. :)”

Come celebrate with us!  Meet Volunteer of the Week JEN HENDRICKER by clicking on this link…https://parkviewec.wordpress.com/meet-the-ec-team-volunteers-of-the-week/

We are getting ready to launch our 5th service THIS WEEKEND.  I’ve been quickly contacting all the new people who expressed interest in serving in our Early Childhood Ministry.  Get ready to see alot of new faces and please help me give them a warm welcome.  We have some of our current team members moving over to the 5th service to serve which means we have a few gaps to fill.  Right now we could use a few more helping hands this Saturday for the 3:45pm service. If you are available please contact me.

This week I thought it would be fun if we all took 3 minutes and received a pep talk.  click here…http://youtu.be/l-gQLqv9f4o   .  I don’t know, all I know is it’s everyone’s duty to give the world a reason to dance. So let’s get to it, let’s dance!

Come celebrate with us!  Meet Volunteer of the Week JOHN TAYLOR by clicking on this link…
      https://parkviewec.wordpress.com/meet-the-ec-team-volunteers-of-the-week/
Just for fun…What are those crazy sounds the little boys are making in the corner as they wheel the toy cars around the table?
And do you wonder what the little girls are carefully serving and eating off those tiny plastic plates?
      391467_416008125101281_1167162942_n
Kids will be kids. So, why do we quickly forget what that means? Why do we want them to grow up so fast?
Take a break to watch this short 2 minute video and remember what it was like to be a kid. Remember that no matter what our age, we all still have a little bit of childlike play in us!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AJpKt6UP08
We have 7 openings to fill THIS SATURDAY.  If you are available, we are in need of six more team members at the 3:45pm and one more person for the 5:45pm Saturday.  Please email jill.shea@parkviewchurch.com or send Jill a message on Facebook  right away if you or someone you know can help.   Your willingness to serve the children is having an eternal impact on their lives.
Making room for more!  We’ll be moving to 5 services starting NEXT WEEKEND.  We need all hands on deck in February with the launch of a 5th service (Sundays 5:45pm).  How EXCITING to see more families that are seeking God and their children learning about their heavenly Father!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your commitment to our Early Childhood Ministry.
You’re the best team, love ya!
