It’s Christmastime! It’s Christmastime! Well not yet…but in Early Childhood, we are starting Christmas early so our little ones will have enough time to really understand the Christmas Miracle and prepare their hearts for Christmas!
Is there a more fun time than Christmas with a preschooler? I say no. Their little faces light up with awe as they take in all the music and lights and new experiences. They sparkle just as much as the Christmas decorations around them. We’re going to sparkle too this Christmas! As we share the story of Christmas throughout the next two months, we’ll make a “Story Sparkler” to go with that piece of the story. By the time they’ve made it through December, each child will have a pail full of story sparklers so they can retell the story of Jesus’ birth at home.
We’ll start with the story of how the angel came and told Mary she was going to have a special baby named Jesus (November weeks 1 and 2). Then, we will learn about, Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem to find no room in the inn, and Baby Jesus is born in a stable (November weeks 3 and 4). The shepherds enter the story next and run to meet this special baby (December weeks 1 and 2). The third weekend of December, we start our Christmas services where we will have a Happy Birthday Party for Jesus at all Christmas services! Finally, the wise men arrive and complete the Christmas story (December week 4 and January week 1).
The Monthly Memory verse is “God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son.” John 3:16, GNT
The Bottom Line is Jesus is God’s Son.
