    • January/February Curriculum for Ones

We now have Story Time for the Ones Rooms!!

What is Story Time you ask? Well, let me share. Over the course of the last year, we’ve talked about ways to introduce the three Basic Truths for everyone under the age of two in the One’s rooms.

Story Time includes one story script changing every other week. What’s important to know is that we are telling the same story in the two’s rooms the entire month long. We’re just telling it in different ways.

You will see the Story Time activities hung on the cabinets and set up in your room so you can interact with your toddlers via these activities all month long. All toddler activities work to introduce the bottom line to our youngest friends so they fit right in with the story of the month. As toddlers arrive, you will play with them making sure to emphasize the bottom line as you interact.

Then, at some point during the service, you will gather as many toddlers as you can together to tell the story. Again, it’s the same story all month long so don’t worry if not everyone is sitting down every week. And, just because they aren’t sitting doesn’t mean they aren’t listening. You keep telling them about how much God loves them. They’ll hear you.

We’re so excited about this addition to our monthly curriculum and can’t wait to hear stories from your ones classrooms.  To preview the activities click on the link below:

It’s Christmastime! It’s Christmastime! Well not yet…but in Early Childhood, we are starting Christmas early so our little ones will have enough time to really understand the Christmas Miracle and prepare their hearts for Christmas!

Is there a more fun time than Christmas with a preschooler? I say no. Their little faces light up with awe as they take in all the music and lights and new experiences. They sparkle just as much as the Christmas decorations around them. We’re going to sparkle too this Christmas! As we share the story of Christmas throughout the next two months, we’ll make a “Story Sparkler” to go with that piece of the story. By the time they’ve made it through December, each child will have a pail full of story sparklers so they can retell the story of Jesus’ birth at home.

We’ll start with the story of how the angel came and told Mary she was going to have a special baby named Jesus (November weeks 1 and 2). Then, we will learn about, Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem to find no room in the inn, and Baby Jesus is born in a stable (November weeks 3 and 4). The shepherds enter the story next and run to meet this special baby (December weeks 1 and 2). The third weekend of December, we start our Christmas services where we will have a Happy Birthday Party for Jesus at all Christmas services! Finally, the wise men arrive and complete the Christmas story (December week 4 and January week 1).

The Monthly Memory verse is “God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son.” John 3:16, GNT

The Bottom Line is Jesus is God’s Son.

      November Weeks 1 and 2 – November 7th/8th and 14th/15th

      November Weeks 3 and 4 – November 21st/22nd and 28th/29th

      December Weeks 1 and 2 – December 5th/6th and 12th/13th

      Christmas Services – December 19th/20th and 23rd/24th

December Week 4 and January Week 1 – December 27th and January 2nd/3rd

KID_EC_MemoryVerse_September2015_36x24Sept Oct 2015 Memory Verse Motions

We’re beginning the school year with a review of the three basic truths: God Made Me, God Loves Me and Jesus wants to be my friend forever. What an incredible reminder of what we’re trying to instill in the hearts of our smallest church attenders.

We’ll begin this month telling preschoolers that God made them. He made their hands, their eyes, their feet. He made each and every part of them. (September weeks 1 and 2) Then, we’ll explain that not only did He make them, but He has a plan for them. He has a special plan for everyone! (September weeks 3 and 4) Next, preschoolers will hear the story of the lost coin and how God loves them even more than the woman loved her coin. God loves them so much and will always seek them. (October weeks 1 and 2) Finally, they will hear how God loved them so much that He sent Jesus to be their friend forever. Jesus is an amazing friend and loves each and every one of us so much. (October weeks 3 and 4)

      September Weeks 1 and 2 – September 5th/6th and 12th/13th

      September Weeks 3 and 4 – September 19th/20th and 26th/27th

      October Weeks 1 and 2 – October 3rd/4th and 10th/11th

      October Weeks 3 and 4 – October 17th/18th and 24th/25th

      October Weeks 5 – October 31st/November 1st

We’ve had GREAT success so far with our VBS Move!  THANK YOU for all you have done and will continue to do as we move into our final weekend and an AMAZING fall.

We have already put Parkview Kids donations into action by packing 3 Journey Bags for kids that went into emergency care this past week! We have reached 41 Journey Bags – we still need $5,000 to complete our goal of 100 backpacks!

Be sure to mark your calendars for our VBS Closing Night Program on Friday, August 28 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. We will be taking a final offering for kids in foster care and celebrating what God has done over the last 4 weeks. We will have a BMX Biker Show, a free hot dog dinner, inflatables and food trucks for purchasing dessert. Bring your entire family and celebrate with us!  If you’d like to volunteer and help behind the scenes please let me know.

If you haven’t already heard there are some exciting changes to look forward to as we launch Parkview Kids this September!

Our Early Childhood Team Gathering is Monday, September 14th, 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the east lobby at Parkview.  An email invite will go out next week.  Please save the date as we join together to share a meal, connect, get equipped, inspired and of course unveil and hand out our NEW t-shirts!

Staffing changes – There will be some organization changes that will allow us to shift our structure to allow for central support for current and future campuses.

      • At the Central level, Lisa Dorman will be programming director over Early Childhood for Orland, Lockport and all future campuses.
      • At the Campus level, I will serve as Director over the Area Coordinators at Orland (Nursery (Garden), Preschool (Backyard/Clubhouse), Elementary (City & Alley), Special Needs, Green Team).

These internal changes allow us to be more focused and efficient with our time, energy and resources and produce a more consistent experience for kids and families at each campus.

What does this mean for you?  You will not experience any changes except starting in September Amelia Goetschel and Carrie Lyons will together lead the Early Childhood Team and take over this online communication.  Each will continue to be your main contact for overseeing scheduling for nursery/garden or preschool/backyard/clubhouse.

Please continue to be consistent and committed in your serving role.  We need YOU!  We will go back to 5 services AFTER Labor Day weekend.  Starting Saturday, September 12th we will have a 3:45pm and 5:30pm service and Sundays will be 9:00am, 11:00am and 5:30pm.

Please pray for our teams as we undergo a lot of change in a short amount of time.  We GREATLY appreciate YOU and all that you do for God’s little ones and our Parkview families.

You are more than you know!

      BIG hugs and much love,
