Daring Faith Memory Verse - Blog

Puzzles…don’t you just love them. How all the pieces fit together until what’s on the table looks like the picture on the box. Have you ever tried to do a puzzle without the picture on the box? It’s hard right! We like to see the whole plan, the way it’s going to end. It should look just like the picture. Now, the problem with life is that we can’t see the picture, can we? We don’t know the whole plan, but God does. God has a plan for us, from beginning to end. Isn’t that awesome! God has a plan for me and for you and for our preschoolers too. And that’s what we are teaching them this month. God has a plan for THEM and because He has a plan they can have a DARING FAITH! Now that’s a hard concept for a little person. They can barely plan what they are going to do after snack, much less imagine that there is a plan for their whole lives.

That’s why we are going to share one of God’s greatest plans with them. We are going to tell the story of Joseph, from beginning to end. Looking back over Joseph’s life it’s easy to see that God had a plan the whole time. Each and every piece, each tragedy and triumph, fit together perfectly like a puzzle. As we tell the story of Joseph, we will DARE our preschoolers to take their faith one step further and put it into action.

Week 1:  Dare to Believe – Joseph’s Coat
Joseph was special, so special that his dad gave him an awesome coat. Now, not only did God make Joseph special, He made each of us special. We are each a unique creation of his handy work and we can use those talents to help others!

Week 2: Dare to Pray – Joseph goes to Egypt
God had a plan for Joseph and God has a plan for each one of us. When Joseph traveled to Egypt I’m sure he was scared and I’m sure he talked to God about his fears.  We can talk to God and ask Him to help us when we are scared.

Week 3: Dare to Trust – Joseph goes to jail
We can trust God’s plan even when times are hard.  Joseph was in jail and he didn’t do anything, yet he trusted God. When we are facing a challenge and life doesn’t seem fair we can remember to trust God and His plan for us.

Week 4: Dare to Share – Joseph saves Egypt
In our story, Joseph saves not only his family, but the entire country from famine, so we see that God’s plan is always the best plan.  Joseph had a very important part in God’s plan and we do to.  God wants us to share His love with others.

Week 5: Dare to Obey – Joseph Forgives
At the end of Joseph’s story, Joseph’s brothers traveled to Egypt to purchase grain.  Joseph knew God’s plan is to love and forgive people, so that’s what he did when his brothers said they were sorry. We can also obey and say we’re sorry when we are wrong.

So have some fun this month and remember God’s plan, it all fits together.

It’s a very special month this month. It’s Easter! While it can be one of the busiest months of the year in our churches, the message of Easter is so important to share.

Jesus came to live among us because He wants to be our friend forever. He knew He was going to go away, and He knew He was coming back. He told His friends that was what was going to happen and it did. Jesus came back. He is alive.

Our preschoolers will see how Jesus invited ordinary men to an extraordinary life when He asked them to follow Him.  He said just those simple words—follow me. They did. And, we should too. In fact, that’s our bottom line for this month. I can follow Jesus. Who can you follow? I can follow Jesus.  Isn’t that what Easter month should be about? Following God’s Son who came to save us all. I’m so thankful God sent us Jesus. Let’s celebrate that He is alive!

It’s time for Super Kids—a favorite among our Backyard friends, young and old alike. This series, we are going to be STRONG and COURAGEOUS because God is always with us. Each of our lessons is about a person in the Bible who God helped to be brave. We start the series with Gideon who trusted that God knew everything and followed His directions going into battle with only torches, jars and trumpets. This is such a fun lesson to retell with the preschoolers yelling, “For the Lord and for Gideon!” (January weeks 2 and 3) Next, we tell a familiar story but focus on a hero that doesn’t often get recognized, Miriam, Moses’s older sister. We’ve told the story of Moses and how God had a plan for him many times, but we’ve never concentrated on the role Miriam played in the story. She was strong and courageous as she stood in the reeds watching over her brother and then walking up to the princess and offering the best solution of all. Talk about God putting her in the right place at the right time! Because Miriam was brave, her mother was able to care for her baby brother during his preschool years. (January weeks 4 and 5) Hezekiah is the brave man we learn about next. Hezekiah is able to lead his people and defend his city because he knows that God is the one true God and so very powerful. God even sends an angel to defend the city! Now, there’s a fun lesson to tell! (February weeks 1 and 2) We end the series with a personal favorite of mine, Daniel and the Lions. Preschoolers love this story because there are lions. I love this story because Daniel did the right thing even when he knew it would cause a BIG problem for him. Daniel trusted God to be with him, and He was. Daniel was strong and courageous for sure! And, because he knew God was with him, he was able to be brave. (February weeks 3 and 4)

      January Weeks 2 and 3 – January 9, 10, 16, 17

      January Weeks 4 and 5 – January 23, 24, 30, 31

      February Weeks 1 and 2 – February 6, 7, 13, 14

      February Weeks 3 and 4 – February 20, 21, 27, 28

We now have Story Time for the Ones Rooms!!

What is Story Time you ask? Well, let me share. Over the course of the last year, we’ve talked about ways to introduce the three Basic Truths for everyone under the age of two in the One’s rooms.

Story Time includes one story script changing every other week. What’s important to know is that we are telling the same story in the two’s rooms the entire month long. We’re just telling it in different ways.

You will see the Story Time activities hung on the cabinets and set up in your room so you can interact with your toddlers via these activities all month long. All toddler activities work to introduce the bottom line to our youngest friends so they fit right in with the story of the month. As toddlers arrive, you will play with them making sure to emphasize the bottom line as you interact.

Then, at some point during the service, you will gather as many toddlers as you can together to tell the story. Again, it’s the same story all month long so don’t worry if not everyone is sitting down every week. And, just because they aren’t sitting doesn’t mean they aren’t listening. You keep telling them about how much God loves them. They’ll hear you.

We’re so excited about this addition to our monthly curriculum and can’t wait to hear stories from your ones classrooms.  To preview the activities click on the link below:
