    • September and October 2018 – Work of Art

Posted at 4:23 pm by pcclisadorman
      Sep 3rd

We see works of art every day that have a Maker and a plan. We pass them on the street, at work, and every Sunday they play around our feet. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Yes, people!

People are God’s works of art. He is our Maker. And, He has a plan for each of us. Every neighbor. Every preschooler. Every parent. God has a plan for all of us, because He made us and loves us.

We want to teach our preschoolers that God has a plan for them. And we can’t think of a better story than the life of Joseph.

We’ll introduce the idea that God has a plan for me as we follow Joseph to Egypt, compliments of his older brothers. Joseph had to choose very early on in his life to trust that God had a plan for him.  Not only did God have a plan for Joseph, but He has a plan for each and every one of us too.

September Weeks 2 and 3 : Joseph Gets a Coat and Goes to Egypt – Genesis 37; Jeremiah 1:5 – Story Focus: God has a plan for me.

Then, Joseph finds himself sitting in a jail for something he didn’t do. Talk about hard! But it’s during this time that Joseph learned to trust God’s plan, even when it is hard.  We want our preschoolers to know that they will sometimes encounter hard circumstances—going to a new school, making new friends, not getting to do something you want to do. But, God is with us and has a plan for us even when it’s hard.

September Weeks 4 and 5 : Joseph in Jail – Genesis 39-40 – Story Focus: I can trust God’s plan even when it’s hard.

Next, we’ll learn that we are all a part of God’s plan when we hear how Joseph saved the grain, which in turn saved an entire nation from starvation.  We want preschoolers to know that each and every one of them is part of God’s big plan. What they do matters to Him, and they matter to Him.

October Weeks 1 and 2: Joseph Saves the Grain – Genesis 41 – Story Focus: I am part of God’s plan.

Weeks three and four are a tough one, but oh so needed. We will hear how Joseph forgave his brothers for the hurtful things they had done long ago because he trusted that God’s plan is always best.  Even when we don’t understand what is happening in our lives, we can trust that God’s plan is always best.

October Weeks 3 and 4: Joseph Forgives – Genesis 42-45; Psalm 16:11 – Story Focus: God’s plan is always best.

We want to teach our preschoolers that God has a plan for them. Imagine how much better the lives of our preschoolers and, well, all of us could be if we lived like God has a plan for us, and that God’s plan is always best. We would be the complete Works of Art that God created us to be.

Have you seen the video of the preschooler and the automatic doors? You have got to check it out! This little guy just cannot get over how the doors open every time he walks towards them. His face is pure wonder! He can’t even believe what he’s seeing! He just keeps walking back and forth to make the doors open and close. He’s totally amazed!

When I see his face I think, that is the world of a preschooler. A world filled with wonder, discovery, and first looks at the world all around them. What has become ordinary to us as adults is absolutely spectacular to them because they’ve never seen it, heard it, experienced it before!  Preschoolers are making new discoveries every day. They want to know about their world. They want to name it, smell it, touch it, explore it, listen to it – which is probably why they ask so many questions and get “into” so many things.

Well, this summer we want our preschoolers to ask away! We want them to explore, make discoveries and learn about the world around them. More than anything, we want them to walk away knowing that God made the world around them by teaching this one simple bottom line: God made everything – the sun, moon, stars, planets, clouds, rain, oceans, animals, flowers, you, me…everything! It’s mind blowing really! And if we allow ourselves to imagine what it would be like for a preschooler to learn this for the first time, we just might find ourselves totally amazed like the little boy in front of the automatic doors!  This summer enjoy seeing the world through the eyes of your preschoolers and recapture the wonder of knowing that God made everything.

    • April and May 2018 – Sweet Shop

Posted at 10:00 am by pcclisadorman
      Apr 1st

Jesus loves everyone is the sweetest news we will ever share with our preschoolers. And since everyone LOVES sweets and going out for something sweet — we decided the perfect theme for our preschoolers would be SWEET SHOP!! We will hear the stories of the woman at the well, Zacchaeus, the unloved woman, and Peter. Jesus showed love to all of these people, and it’s the same kind of love He has for you and me and every preschooler that we get to teach each weekend.  We want our preschoolers to grow up knowing that Jesus loves us all, no matter what, and He will never stop loving us.

WEEK 1 – The Woman at the Well – John 4:1-30

      April Weeks 1 and 2 – April 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th

We’ll begin the month learning about the woman at the well. Even though she was from a different place than Jesus, He still wanted to be her friend.  No matter where we’re from, Jesus loves us. No matter how different we are from each other, Jesus loves us.  Everyone is different and Jesus loves us ALL no matter what!

      WEEK 2 – Zacchaeus – Luke 19:1-10

      April Weeks 3 and 4 – April 21st, 22nd, 28th, 29th

The second week of the month we’ll meet Zacchaeus. He made bad choice after bad choice, but Jesus still wanted to be his friend.  We can be unkind. We can not share our things. We can make bad choices. Even when we do all these things, Jesus still loves us.  Zacchaeus did not make good choices but Jesus loved him anyway!

      WEEK 3 – The Unloved Woman – John 8:2-11

      May Weeks 1 and 2 – May 5th, 6th, 12th, 14th

During week three, preschoolers will hear about the woman that no one else loved – you know, the one that was about to be stoned to death. Yep, Jesus loved her too. Can you imagine how that woman felt when Jesus came to her rescue?  Even when we feel alone, we can know that Jesus loves us.  Jesus loved the woman even when on one else did. Jesus loves everyone no matter what!

      WEEK 4 – Peter’s Denial and Restoration – Matthew 26:31-35, 69-75 and John 21:15-17

      May Weeks 3 and 4 – May 19th, 20th, 26th, 27th

We’ll end the month with Peter. He denied Jesus three times just like Jesus said he would. But, Jesus didn’t stop loving him.  No matter what Peter did, Jesus still loved him. He always loves us too! No matter what we do Jesus will ALWAYS love us.

So get your sweet tooth – and your heart – ready for a super sweet month filled with the good news that JESUS LOVES EVERYONE? It’s going to be one, huge, sugar overload, not because of candy but because Jesus’ love is just that big and sweet!
